The tradition of tapping maple trees for sap has been around for hundreds of years, dating back to the indigenous people of the Northeast and was adopted by incoming European colonists. Join us for Maple Sugar Day at Greenwich Land Trust and learn how to tap trees and make your own syrup. We will have hands-on demonstrations and stations throughout the Louise Mueller Preserve, samples, food trucks and more! Cost: $10 for individuals; $20 Member families; $30 Non-member families.

Greenhouse & Garden Volunteer Sessions

Join Land Trust staff and other community volunteers weekly in the greenhouse of the Mueller Preserve as we prepare for spring planting. Seeds are sown in outdoor trays through the winter and brought into the greenhouse for early germination in March. Join us for an informative morning. Professor Jessica Lubell of the University of Connecticut will offer a presentation about many lesser-known native shrub taxa that are adaptable to landscape conditions— such as Comptonia, Diervilla, Prunus, Myrica, Eubotrys, Viburnum, and Spiraea.
