Space for Wild Cats, Luke Hunter
Join world renowned carnivore and big cat expert Luke Hunter to learn about bobcats living in the greenways and habitat patches scattered throughout Greenwich. Luke will share photos of bobcats taken on Greenwich Land Trust properties and discuss how these adaptable predators manage to live in populated areas. He’ll illustrate how this ability to coexist with people extends to other wild cats in the US- and how it doesn’t- and what it might require to bring the mountain lion back to the north-east.
Bio: Luke is the Executive Director of the Big Cats Program at the Wildlife Conservation Society and considered one of the world’s leading experts on the conservation of endangered carnivores and their habitats. He has held university positions in Australia and South Africa and is the former President and Chief Conservation Officer of Panthera. Luke has co-authored over 200 articles in scientific journals and popular media, and has written eight books on wild carnivores and their conservation.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
