CONSERVING THE LAND
Greenwich Land Trust permanently protects 869 acres of diverse habitats, from the tidal marshes of Long Island Sound, to meadows and orchards, and the lush woodlands of the backcountry. Our ongoing commitment to conserve open space ensures that the land will always be there — for us, for our children, for their children, forever.

CARING FOR THE LAND
Land protection and stewardship are the foundation of Greenwich Land Trust’s conservation mission. With the help of volunteers, town officials, and community leaders, we work to fulfill our commitments to landowners, preserve the integrity of our easements, and uphold the public trust.

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
Greenwich Land Trust works to build a community around conservation, engaging people of all generations to care for our natural resources that contribute to the historic character and scenic beauty of Greenwich.
Thank You for Helping GLT Conserve 72 Acres
Converse Brook Preserve
Greenwich Land Trust (GLT) acquired the 72.27-acre property, to be known as Converse Brook Preserve, at the corner of Lake Avenue and Old Mill Road from Aquarion Water Company. The acquisition was accomplished through a partnership between GLT and the Town of Greenwich to buy the property at a below market price from Aquarion Water Company. With the sale complete, GLT will own and steward the land and the Town will hold a conservation easement on the property, conserving the land in perpetuity while allowing for public access.
The protection of this land enhances an existing greenway totaling 869 acres of open space. This greenway strategically links important landscapes which connect critical habitat and increase ecological diversity. The conservation of larger blocks of undeveloped forest land is essential for the protection of wildlife, water quality, and the ecological health of our community.
